FIRST AID & BASIC LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (1 DAY PROGRAM)

PROGRAM CONTENTS:
INTRODUCTION SESSION – 30 MINUTES
  • Background with regards to Basic Life Support – Certification program
  • Pre – Course Test pertaining to the Basic Life Support - Program
MODULE 1: BASIC FIRST AID MANAGEMENT – 1 HOUR
  • Basic first aid management of Minor/Major injuries in Industrial accidents
  • Basic first aid management of common medical emergencies
MODULE 2: FIRST STEPS OF BASIC LIFE SUPPORT IN EMERGENCY – HANDS ON TRAINING – 1 HOUR
  • Dealing with Emergency Situations
  • Helping a casualty who is conscious and able to talk – with first aid management
  • Assessing an unconscious casualty
  • Buying time – Time is Crucial when the heart stops
  • The Chain of Survival
MODULE 3: BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - KEEP THE CASUALTY ALIVE – HANDS ON TRAINING – 1 HOURS
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • How to perform CPR
  • How to perform CPR in children
  • Helping someone who is choking
  • How to put someone in the recovery position
MODULE 4: FIRST AID & BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - ASSESSMENT OF LEARNINGS –2 HOURS (POST LUNCH SESSION
  • Practical session on mannequins under mock scenarios
  • Course completion – Assessment Test
  • Discussion, Reinforcement & Review with regards to the assessment
  • Award of Certificates to the participants - on successful completion of the course
  • Feedback with regards to the program
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Have an appreciation of the value of possessing basic life support skills
  • Have a clear understanding of what to do when faced with a casualty, who is not breathing
  • Recognize the signs of a heart attack
  • Be familiar with the concept of the Chain of Survival
  • Describe and deliver CPR
  • Know the difference between administering CPR to children and to adults
  • Know how to help someone who is choking - baby, child or adult
  • Be familiar with, how and when to put someone in the recovery position
  • Know where to find support, advice and hands-on-training
